Deployment Options

You can deploy Veeam Backup & Replication on a Linux-based or Microsoft Windows-based server. Veeam Backup & Replication provides multiple deployment options described in the Deployment Options section in the Veeam Backup & Replication User Guide. In this guide, you will learn how to install Veeam Backup & Replication from .ISO files.

Veeam Backup & Replication on Linux

To install Veeam Backup & Replication on Linux, Veeam provides Veeam Software Appliance ISO. This ISO image includes the preconfigured Rocky Linux distribution and the Veeam Backup & Replication software. Veeam Software Appliance is secure-by-default thanks to the OS preconfigured according to DISA STIG guidelines. This helps avoid risky misconfigurations and minimizes attack surface.

Despite the .ISO is based on Linux, no Linux OS expertise is required. Veeam provides a simple text-based user interface (TUI) and a web-based console that covers all OS management tasks such as network or time configuration.

Veeam Backup & Replication on Microsoft Windows

To install Veeam Backup & Replication on Microsoft Windows, Veeam provides .ISO with installable software. This .ISO contains only the Veeam Backup & Replication software that must be installed on the already configured Microsoft Windows machine.

Veeam Backup & Replication Access Options

To access the Veeam Backup & Replication server, you can use the Veeam Backup & Replication console on a dedicated Microsoft Windows machine or use the web UI.
