Adding VMware Systems

There are multiple options and use cases for the configuration of monitoring VMware servers and the distribution of the resulting monitoring jobs to Collectors within monitoring groups.

Monitoring groups can be used to partition Collectors for logical or geographical reasons, to control failover and load-balancing, and/or to customize collection settings.

Advanced settings are available in the Veeam UI, controlling data collection intervals, whether data is gathered on VMs or on hosts only, and other options. Details on all available settings and options, plus an example of advanced configuration, will be found in Appendix D. Veeam UI Reference.

The walkthrough below will illustrate Basic Configuration — a single vCenter connection, default settings, all Veeam configuration and collection components installed on a single server.
