Getting Started

Before you start monitoring your virtual environment with Veeam Management Pack for VMware, it is essential that you ensure sufficient Veeam Collector servers are deployed to handle the monitoring load.

Overloading a Collector (by attempting to monitor too many vSphere hosts and VMs) could overload the Ops Mgr Health Service on that Collector server and thus could result in unstable operation and possible monitoring outage.

Before installation of any Veeam components:

  • The Veeam MP for VMware Sizing Calculator included in the Veeam MP Resource Kit should be used to estimate the required number of Collectors for your environment. For more details, refer to the Architecture Overview Guide.

After installation of Veeam components:

  • The Veeam UI will provide guidance on required Collector numbers when a new vCenter Server connection is added. For details, see Adding VMware Systems.
  • Real-time monitoring of Collector and Ops Mgr Health Service load is included in Veeam MP for VMware. For details, see Troubleshooting.
