Configure Backup Repository
Veeam backup repository is a storage location where Veeam keeps backup files. Veeam backup repository is managed by the Veeam Backup & Replication server.
If you leave the default settings, your backups will be stored on the Veeam Backup & Replication server, on the volume with the largest amount of free disk space. If you do not want to store your backups on the Veeam Backup & Replication server, add a new repository.
You can use the following storage types as a repository:
- Direct attached storage. You can add virtual and physical machines as backup repositories: Microsoft Windows Servers and Linux Servers
- Network attached storage: CIFS (SMB) shares
- Deduplicating storage appliances: ExaGrid and Quantum DXi
You can also use scale-out backup repositories that contain supported repository types.
To learn how to add a backup repository, see the Adding Backup Repositories section of the Veeam Backup & Replication User Guide.
