AHV VMs protected by Veeam Availability for Nutanix AHV are licensed per number of protected instances on the Veeam Backup & Replication side. Note that you also must install a Veeam Availability for Nutanix AHV license, which you will get after downloading Veeam Availability for Nutanix AHV.
If you don’t install the license, you can restore VMs from existing backups but you cannot create new backups.
You can monitor the number of licensed instances in the Veeam Backup & Replication console. For details, see Viewing Licensed Objects.
