Step 2. Select VMs

At the Assign VMs step of the wizard, specify VMs or a protection domain that you want to add to the snapshot job.

Note

If you add a protection domain to a snapshot-only job, AHV Backup Proxy creates a snapshot for each VM not a PD snapshot. For details, see Nutanix AHV Snapshot Types.

To learn how to add objects to a snapshot job, see:

Adding VMs to snapshot job

To add VMs to a snapshot job:

  1. At the Virtual Machines step of the wizard, click Add on the toolbar.
  2. In the Add Objects window, click + on the left of the cluster name to expand the list of VMs.
  3. From the list of VMs, select VMs that you want to back up and click Add.

To quickly find the necessary VM, you can use the search field at the top of the Select objects field.

Step 2. Select VMs

Adding Protection Domains to snapshot job

If you want to select a protection domain instead of individual VMs, do the following:

  1. At the Virtual Machines step of the wizard, click Add on the toolbar.
  1. In the Add Objects window, select the Dynamic mode check box.
  1. Click + on the left of the cluster name to expand the list of protection domains.
  1. From the list of protection domains, select one protection domain and click Add.

To quickly find the necessary protection domain, you can use the search field at the top of the Select objects field.

Step 2. Select VMs

  1. [Optional] The Exclusions option is available only if you have added a protection domain to the job. If you want to exclude some VMs from processing, do the following:
  1. At the Virtual Machines steps of the wizard, click Exclusions on the toolbar.
  2. In the VM name contains field, specify a string value to filter the VMs.

You can use the following wildcard characters: * and ?. Note that you cannot specify multiple conditions separated by comma, the filter supports only one condition.

  1. Click Ok to save the exclusions setting.

Step 2. Select VMs

Note

If you delete a VM from the protection group added to a snapshot job, the backup job will not process this VM on next runs.

There is a misspelling right here:

I want to let the Veeam Documentation Team know about that.
