Definite Article

The definite article is used before a singular or plural noun when the noun is specific. The definite article can also be used with uncountable nouns.

Use the in the following cases:

  • With something already mentioned.
  • When you define a specific object. 
  • With ordinal numbers and superlatives.
  • For nouns with qualification.

Examples

  1. To be able to orchestrate a standalone Veeam backup server, you must deploy a VAO agent on the server. The VAO agent will trigger orchestration commands on that server. [already mentioned]
  2. To enhance synthetic operations on Microsoft Windows and shared folder backup repositories, Veeam Backup & Replication uses the Fast Clone technology. [specific technology]
