Definite Article

The definite article is used before a singular or plural noun when the noun is specific. The definite article can also be used with uncountable nouns.

Use the in the following cases:

  • With something already mentioned.
  • When you define a specific object. 
  • With ordinal numbers and superlatives.
  • For nouns with qualification.
