Hyper-V Storage Performance Profile Analysis
Summary
This report analyzes storage IOPS and latency statistics across a time range. The report helps you track whether the latency threshold is exceeded within the reporting period, and shows what IOPS values are achieved at latency peaks.
Description
The Hyper-V Storage Performance Profile Analysis report analyzes IOPS and latency statistics for cluster disks and Cluster Shared Volumes (CSV), shows correlation between the IOPS and latency metrics and helps identify cluster disks and volumes with performance issues.
Parameters
Date/time Selection: defines the time period to analyze in the report.
Scope: defines a list of Groups or Objects that will be analyzed in the report (by default, the Hyper-V Cluster Disk Container (Veeam MP) group is selected).
The Add Group option returns a Group and all objects that a group contains. The Add Object option returns only the selected object.
Aggregation Type: defines whether the data in the report will be aggregated to Hourly or Daily values.
Threshold: Storage Max Device Latency (ms): defines the maximum latency threshold in millisecond.
Sample Usage
Find the most loaded cluster shared disks and volumes, assuming that the maximum device latency has to be lower than 30%. Use the historical performance data for this month.
Instructions
- Open the Hyper-V Storage Performance Profile Analysis report.
- From the From list, select This Month > First Day. From the To list, select This Month > Last Day.
- Leave the Scope section without changes.
- From the Aggregation Type list, select Daily.
- In the Threshold: Storage Max Device Latency (ms) field, enter 30.
- Click Run to view the report.
Report Output
The IOPS achieved at latency peak chart will show 5 most loaded cluster disks and volumes. For each disk or volume, the chart shows the worst latency value reported within the selected period and the IOPS value that was achieved during this latency peak.
The details table will provide the following information for each cluster disk and volume included in the report scope:
Column | Column Description |
Storage Name | Name of the cluster disk/volume. |
Number of VMs on the Storage | Number of VMs hosted on the cluster disk/volume. |
Maximum IOPS | The maximum number of IOPS reported for the selected period. |
Worst Latency | The highest latency value reported for the selected period. |
For each cluster disk or volume, the Latency and IOPS statistics section will provide day-by-day latency and IOPS values and show whether (and when) the defined latency threshold has been breached.
