Storage vMotions History

This report shows the history of VM disk files migrations between shared datastores across a time range.

Description

The Storage vMotions History report is a linked report that is based on the Veeam Relationship History report from the Veeam Report Library. The report provides statistics for the predefined relationship type.

Parameters

Date/time Selection: defines a time period to analyze in the report.

Scope: defines a list of Groups or Objects that will be analyzed in the report (by default, the VMware Datastores group is selected). The Add Group option returns a Group and all objects that a group contains (with all performance counter instances). The Add Object option returns only the selected object.

Scope Defines: defines whether the report will analyze relationship from the perspective of Host or VMware Virtual Machine.

For example, if you include a single host in the report scope and set the Scope Defines parameter to Datastore, the report will show all VMs that were residing on this datastore during the reporting period. If you include a single VM in the report scope and set the Scope Defines parameter to Virtual Machine, the report will show all datastores where the VM was residing during the reporting period.

Group By: defines whether data in the report will be grouped by Datastore or VMware Virtual Machine. If the Datastore option is selected, the report will display a separate chart and table for every datastore in the scope. If the VMware Virtual Machine option is selected, the report will display a separate chart and table for every VM in the scope.

Sample Usage

Report on virtual machines that resided on the selected datastores during this week. Detect virtual machines whose disk files were relocated to and from the selected datastores.

Instructions

  1. Open the Storage vMotions History report.
  2. From the From list, select This Week > Monday. From the To list, select This Week > Friday.
  3. In the Scope section, include the necessary datastores in the report.

Click Add Object. In the Add Object window, click Options. In the Options window, click Add. In the Class Name search box, enter VM Container and click Search. Select the VM Container class in the list of search results, click Add and click OK. In the Options window, click OK to apply the filter. In the Add Object window, click Search. 1. From the Scope Defines list, choose Datastore.
  2. From the Group by list, choose Datastore.
  3. Click Run to view the report.

Report Output

The report will show the list of virtual machines that resided on the selected datastores during this week. For every VM, the report chart and report table will display periods during which the VM disk files were residing on the datastore. The datastores included into the report output will be sorted by the number of VM migrations in descending order.
