Top Noisy vSphere Objects

The report analyzes the alerting activity and provides information on virtual infrastructure objects that caused the greatest number of alerts across a given time range.

Description

The Top Noisy vSphere Objects report is a linked report that is based on the Veeam Alert Statistics Report from the Veeam Report Library. The report is limited to the Troublemakers mode, and can provide statistics for only one time interval and predefined object class.

Parameters

Date/time Selection: defines the time period to analyze in the report.

Object Type: defines the class of virtual infrastructure objects to include in the report (VMware Cluster, VMware Datastore, VMware Virtual Machine or VMware vSphere Host).

Count: defines the maximum number of virtual infrastructure objects to display in the report output. The value can range between 1 and 200.

Sample Usage

Report on top 10 datastores in your virtual infrastructure that caused the greatest number of alerts during this week.

Instructions

  1. Open the Top Noisy vSphere Objects report.
  2. From the From list, select This Week > Monday. From the To list, select This Week > Friday.
  3. From the Object Type list, select VMware Datastore.
  4. In the Count field, enter 10.
  5. Click Run to view the report.

Report Output

The report will show statistics for top 10 VMware datastores alerts activity:

Top Level Entity

Name of the datastore that caused alerts.

Count

Number of alerts raised for the datastore during the selected period.

% of Total

Alert share for the datastore (relative to all alerts included into the report).

Management Pack

Management pack from which alerts originate.

Path

Path to the datastore that caused alerts.

Source

Name of the datastore that caused alerts.

Monitor/Rule

Name of a monitor or rule that triggered alerts.

Alert

Name of the alert.

Count

Number of times the alert was raised during the reporting period.

% of Total

Alert share, relative to all alerts triggered for the specific datastore and included into the report.
