Top (Bottom) Backup Repositories

This report aggregates historical performance data for backup repositories across a time range and shows top or bottom repositories for a specific performance counter.

Description

The report features a predefined list of repository performance counters.

Note

To run the Top (Bottom) Backup Repositories report, you must have Veeam Management Pack for Microsoft System Center installed.

Parameters

Date/time Selection: defines the time period to analyze in the report.

Algorithm: defines whether top or bottom backup repositories will be displayed in the report.

Count: defines the number of top or bottom backup repositories that will be included in the report. The value can range between 1 and 200.

Group by: defines how data will be grouped in the report (by Object, Counter Instance or Object and Counter Instance).

Scope: defines a list of Groups or Objects to analyze in the report (by default, the Veeam Backup Repository Group is selected). The Add Group option returns a Group and all objects that a group contains (with all performance counter instances). The Add Object option returns only the selected object.

Counter: defines a collection rule for a performance counter to analyze in the report.

Sample Usage

Report on top 5 repositories that had the largest amount of free space during this week.

Instructions

  1. Open the Top (Bottom) Backup Repositories report.
  2. From the From list, select This Week > Monday. From the To list, select This Week > Friday.
  3. From the Algorithm list, select Top.
  4. In the Count field, enter 5.
  5. From the Group by list, enter Object.
  6. Leave the Scope section without changes.
  7. From the Counter list, select Veeam Backup Repository\Free Space % (Veeam Backup Repository FreeSpace Pct).
  8. Click Run to view the report.

Report Output

The report will show 5 repositories with the largest amount of free space. The chart will display the following details for every repository: average free space usage and the minimum-to-maximum free space usage range for the selected period. The table will display additional details for every repository: name, sample count, minimum, maximum and average free space usage values and standard deviation.

Note

If several objects have the same ranking function value, the report will include more objects than you have set in the Count field. For example, the “bottom 10” report will show 11 objects if two objects “share” the same position (have the same value).

You can click repository names in the output table to drill down to the Veeam Performance Details Report.
