Importing Backups from Veeam Backup & Replication

With Veeam Availability for Nutanix AHV you can restore VMs to Nutanix AHV from any backups in Veeam proprietary format. To be able to restore from backups created by Veeam Backup & Replication or other instance of Veeam Availability for Nutanix AHV, you must transfer these backups to the backup repository and import them to the proxy appliance infrastructure.

Importing Backups from Veeam Backup & Replication Note:

You cannot import backups from unsupported repository types. This can affect imports from backup copy jobs.

To import backups from the Veeam Backup & Replication repository, do the following:

  1. At the top-right corner of the web UI, click the gear icon and select Manage Veeam Servers.

  1. Select the required Veeam Backup server from the list of backup servers.
  2. Click the Import backups button and click Proceed to confirm the action.

The proxy appliance will scan the backup server and import all compatible backups.

  1. Once the backups are imported, click Protected VMs at the main menu. You will see imported backups labeled with the Importing Backups from Veeam Backup & Replication icon.

If you want to see the status of the import, click Events at the main menu.
