Removing RHV Backup Appliance

You can remove the RHV backup appliance from the backup infrastructure if you no longer need it and want to add another appliance to the backup server, or if you want to connect this appliance to another backup server.

Important

After you remove the RHV backup appliance:

  • You will not be able to perform RHV VM backup, entire VM restore and VM disk restore operations unless you deploy a new RHV backup appliance. However, you will still be able to manage RHV VM backups and perform all other restore operations described in section Performing Restore.
  • Records about all backup jobs that have been ever processed by the RHV backup appliance will be deleted from the Veeam Backup & Replication configuration database. Backups created by these jobs are displayed under the Backups > Disk (Orphaned) node in the Home view of the Veeam Backup & Replication console.

To remove the RHV backup appliance, do the following:

  1. Open the Backup Infrastructure view.
  2. In the inventory pane, select Backup Proxies.
  3. In the working area, select the RHV backup appliance and click Remove Appliance on the ribbon, or right-click the RHV backup appliance and select Remove.
  1. In the Veeam Backup & Replication window, choose whether you want to permanently remove from the RHV host the VM running as the RHV backup appliance.

Tip

If you keep the VM, the configuration settings and records about backup jobs ever processed by the appliance will be retained in the appliance database. This can be helpful if you want to connect the RHV backup appliance to another backup server.
