    Orchestrating Failback with NetApp Storage Plans

    In case you run a NetApp storage plan and want to switch from recovered VMs back to VMs running on source volumes, you must perform the following steps:

    1. Reset the plan state as described in section Resetting Storage Plans.
    2. Add a new storage recovery location as described in section Adding Recovery Locations. Specify new host, network and storage resources to be used when performing failback to the location.
    3. [This step applies only of you have not selected the Reprotect storage volumes after failover check box at the Reportect Volumes step of the Run Plan wizard] Reverse the protection relationship between the source and destination volumes as described in the NetApp ONTAP Documentation Center.
    4. [This step applies only of you have not selected the Reprotect storage volumes after failover check box at the Reportect Volumes step of the Run Plan wizard] Wait approximately 5 minutes for Orchestrator to collect data on the updated configuration.
    5. Run a readiness check to ensure the plan is ready for failback as described in section Running Plan Readiness Check.
    6. Run the plan again as described in section Running Storage Failover.

    Orchestrating Failback with HPE Storage Plans

    In case you run an HPE storage plan and want to switch from recovered VMs back to VMs running on primary volumes, you must perform the following steps:

    Tip

    If you have enabled the auto synchronize option for the remote copy group before running the plan, the failback process becomes easier. This means that you must perform steps 1–2 and 6–8 only.

    1. Reset the plan state as described in section Resetting Storage Plans.
    2. Add a new storage recovery location as described in section Adding Recovery Locations. Specify new host, network and storage resources to be used when performing failback to the location.
    3. Perform the recover operation for the remote copy group as described in the Hewlett Packard Enterprise Support Center for 3PAR storage systems and Primera storage systems.
    4. Connect to the target storage system through SSH and run the following command:

    setrcopygroup reverse <remotecopygroupname> -natural -stopgroups

    1. Perform the start operation for the remote copy group as described in the Hewlett Packard Enterprise Support Center for 3PAR storage systems and Primera storage systems.
    2. Wait approximately 5 minutes for Orchestrator to collect data on the updated configuration.
    3. Run a readiness check to ensure the plan is ready for failback as described in section Running Plan Readiness Check.
    4. Run the plan again as described in section Running Storage Failover.
