esx.problem.net.proxyswitch.port.unavailable

Summary

Virtual NIC connection to switch failed. There are no more ports available on the host proxy switch.

If a VM cannot get a valid dvPort to connect to, the vNetwork Distributed Switch (vDS) proxy switch port becomes unavailable.

Causes

This may occur as part of VM power on, or if the user attempts to connect a VM vNIC to a dvPortgroup or a dvPort.

The message will contain the vNIC MAC address, the UID of the vDS, and the port number.

Resolutions

Migrate the virtual machine to a different host. If this is a vendor-specific vDS, consult the vendor documentation for this issue.
