Connecting VMware vSphere Servers

To collect data about VMware vSphere infrastructure objects, you must configure connections to VMware vSphere servers. Only connections to vCenter Servers are supported.

Connecting VMware vSphere Servers Note:

It is a requirement that VAO has connections to all vCenter Servers where both source and replica VMs are located, as well as to the vCenter Server managing resources that will be used to recover VMs.

To configure a connection to a VMware vSphere server:

  1. Log in to the VAO UI as a VAO Administrator. For details, see Accessing VAO UI.

Only Administrators are allowed to add and remove vCenter Server connections.

  1. Switch to the Administration tab.
  2. Navigate to VMware vCenter Servers.
  3. Click Add.
  4. In the Add VMware vCenter Server window:
  1. In the Server field, enter a DNS name or an IP address of the VMware vSphere server that will be connected to the VAO server.
  2. In the User and Password fields, specify credentials of a user account for connecting to the server.
  3. If required, you can change the port number used for communication with the server.
  4. Click Add.
