Configure Backup Repository
Backup repository is a storage location where AHV Backup Proxy keeps backup files. Backup repository is managed in the Veeam Backup & Replication console.
If you leave the default settings, your backups will be stored on the Veeam Backup & Replication server, on the volume with the largest amount of free disk space. If you do not want to store your backups on the Veeam Backup & Replication server, add a new repository.
You can use the following storage types as a repository:
- Direct attached storage. You can add virtual and physical machines as backup repositories: Microsoft Windows Servers and Linux Servers
- Network attached storage: CIFS (SMB) shares, NFS shares
- Deduplicating storage appliances: ExaGrid, Quantum DXi, Dell EMC Data Domain, HPE StoreOnce
- Object storage. You can use cloud storage services as backup repositories. For details, see Object Storage.
You can also use scale-out backup repositories that contain supported repository types.
To learn how to add a backup repository, see the Adding Backup Repositories section of the Veeam Backup & Replication User Guide.
