Adding Microsoft Hyper-V Servers

In this article

You must add to the backup infrastructure Microsoft Hyper-V hosts that you plan to use as source and target for backup, replication and other activities.

You can connect standalone Microsoft Hyper-V hosts, Microsoft Hyper-V clusters or SCVMM servers. If a Microsoft Hyper-V host is added to a cluster, it is recommended that you add to the backup infrastructure a cluster, not a standalone Microsoft Hyper-V host. If you move VMs between hosts in the cluster, you will not have to re-configure jobs in Veeam Backup & Replication. Veeam Backup & Replication will automatically locate migrated VMs and continue processing them as usual.

Before adding a Microsoft Hyper-V server, check prerequisites. Then use the New Hyper-V Server wizard to add the server.

    1. Launch the New Hyper-V Server wizard
    2. Specify a server name or address
    3. Choose a server type
    4. Specify credentials
    5. Review components
    6. Finish working with the wizard
    7. Specify settings for connected volumes
