Configure Backup Repository

Backup repository is a storage location where AHV Backup Proxy keeps backup files. Backup repository is managed in the Veeam Backup & Replication console.

If you leave the default settings, your backups will be stored on the Veeam Backup & Replication server, on the volume with the largest amount of free disk space. If you do not want to store your backups on the Veeam Backup & Replication server, add a new repository.

You can use the following storage types as a repository:

  • Object storage. You can use cloud storage services as backup repositories. For more information, see Object Storage.

You can also use scale-out backup repositories that contain supported repository types.

To learn how to add a backup repository, see the Adding Backup Repositories section of the Veeam Backup & Replication User Guide.

Note

Mind the following limitations:

  • Veeam Backup for Nutanix AHV does not support storing backups in Veeam Cloud Connect repositories. However, you can use Veeam Cloud Connect repositories for storing copies of backups created with Veeam Backup for Nutanix AHV.
  • [For scale-out backup repositories] Due to specifics of backup jobs for AHV VMs, Veeam Backup for Nutanix AHV always creates a separate backup chain for each VM added to a backup job. Thus, even if you unselect the Use per-VM backup files check box in the advanced settings of a scale-out backup repository, backups of multiple AHV VMs are not stored in a single backup file.
