Editing Connections

Note

In Veeam Backup for Salesforce versions prior to 3.2, access to all protected Salesforce organizations was authorized using a single connected app.

To authorize connection to a Salesforce organization, Veeam Backup for Salesforce uses the Salesforce external client app specified when adding this organization. When you change the external client app, you must also update the consumer key and secret that are used to authorize access to the organization. To do that, you can either edit settings of the backup policy that protects this organization or modify the organization connection settings directly.

To modify the organization connection settings, do the following:

  1. Switch to the Configuration page.
  2. Navigate to Salesforce > Salesforce Orgs.
  3. Select the necessary organization and click Edit Connection.
  4. Complete the Edit Connection wizard:
  1. To change the external client app whose security credentials are used to authorize access to the Salesforce organization, follow the instructions provided in section Adding Organizations (steps 1–2).

Note that it may take up to 10 minutes for the updated OAuth tokens to become active.

Important

If you have configured Salesforce as an identity provider in Veeam Backup for Salesforce, the access unique user identifiers (openid) OAuth scope must be granted to the new external client app. Otherwise, you will not be able to change the app tokens.

  1. To verify permissions require to perform backup and restore operations, follow the instructions provided in section Adding Organizations (step 2).
  1. To associate the organization with another company, follow the instructions provided in section Adding Organizations (step 3).
  1. At the Summary step, review configuration settings and click Finish.

NoteS

  • If the connection to the organization has failed or if you want to change the Salesforce user, click Re-authorize connection. You will be redirected to the Salesforce authentication page — on the Salesforce authentication page, enter credentials of the necessary Salesforce user and click Log in.
  • If you enable enhanced domains in Salesforce, the URL of your Salesforce organization will change and the backup policy that protects this organization will fail to connect to Salesforce. To resolve the issue, edit the connection URL of the Salesforce organization — to do that, click Edit organization URL, provide the new URL in the Edit organization URL window and click Apply.
  • Veeam Backup for Salesforce does not store credentials of Salesforce users that are used to log in to Salesforce.
