Step 2. Install Veeam Backup Agents

In this article

Install Veeam backup agents on client computers. You can use one of the following installation methods.

    Deploying Veeam Backup Agents Automatically

You can configure Veeam Availability Console to deploy Veeam backup agents on client computers automatically. In this case, Veeam Availability Console management agents on client computers will automatically download the Veeam backup agent setup file from the Veeam Installation Server over the Internet, install Veeam backup agents and assign a backup policy.

    To configure auto deployment settings:

    1. Log in to Veeam Availability Console as a Portal Administrator.

For details, see Accessing Veeam Availability Console.

    1. In the menu on the left, click Discovery.
    2. Open the Discovered Computers tab.
    3. At the top of the list, click Change Settings to open the Auto Deployment Settings window.
    4. Make sure that the Accept New Connections toggle is set to On.

If Veeam Availability Console is configured to accept new connections, new Veeam Availability Console management agents will be automatically registered with Veeam Availability Console.

    1. Set the Auto Deployment toggle to On.

If auto deployment is enabled, immediately after registration, Veeam Availability Console management agents will attempt to download the Veeam backup agent setup file from the Veeam Installation Server over the Internet, install Veeam backup agents and assign a backup policy that is specified in auto deployment settings.

    1. In the Backup Policy to apply list, choose a backup policy that must be applied as part of the installation process.

The chosen backup policy will be used to configure backup job settings after installing Veeam backup agents. You can select No policy if you do not want to configure backup job settings as part of installation.

To configure a new backup policy, click Create New and configure a new backup policy. For details, see Configuring Backup Policies.

    Auto Deployment Settings
