    To protect your machine from a disaster of any kind, you must perform the following operations in Veeam Agent for IBM AIX:

    1. Install the Veeam Agent for IBM AIX license. Without the license, you will not be able to use the product. To learn more, see Licensing.
    2. Create the recovery image. The recovery image lets you boot your machine and restore its data from a backup created with Veeam Agent for IBM AIX. To learn more, see Recovery Image.
    3. Perform backup.

    Before you back up your data, you should decide on the following backup details:

    • Backup scope (or backup selection): entire system image of your machine or specific directories.
    • Backup location: where you want to store your backed-up data.
    • Backup retention policy: how you want to keep your backed-up data.

    After that, you can specify backup settings and create full backups or incremental backups of your data. You can also back up data of specific WPARs. If your data gets lost or corrupted, you can restore it from the backup.

    1. In case of a disaster, you can restore the entire computer image or specific data on the machine. With Veeam Agent for IBM AIX, you can perform data recovery in several ways:
    • You can boot from the recovery image and use the Veeam Recovery Environment to perform bare-metal restore of your machine.
    • You can restore specific files and directories from a backup.
    • You can restore data pertaining to a specific WPARs from a WPAR backup.
