Recovery Phases
In this article
The bare-metal recovery process is divided into six phases. The recovery phases are performed consequently, one after another:
- VolumeGroups — create the required volume groups.
- LogicalVolumes — create the required logical volumes.
- Filesystems — create file-systems on the logical volumes created in the previous step.
- Mount — mount the file-systems.
- Restore — recover files from the backup.
- MakeBootable — make the system bootable.
The following additional steps are required if Veritas Volume Manager is installed in the backed-up system, and Veritas Volume Groups must be recovered from the backup:
- VXDisks — make disks available for use with Veritas.
- VXGroups — create Veritas Volume Groups.
- VXVolumes — create Veritas Volumes.
