Recovery Phases

In this article

The bare-metal recovery process is divided into six phases. The recovery phases are performed consequently, one after another:

    1. VolumeGroups — create the required volume groups.
    2. LogicalVolumes — create the required logical volumes.
    3. Filesystems — create file-systems on the logical volumes created in the previous step.
    4. Mount — mount the file-systems.
    5. Restore — recover files from the backup.
    6. MakeBootable — make the system bootable.

The following additional steps are required if Veritas Volume Manager is installed in the backed-up system, and Veritas Volume Groups must be recovered from the backup:

    1. VXDisks — make disks available for use with Veritas.
    2. VXGroups — create Veritas Volume Groups.
    3. VXVolumes — create Veritas Volumes.
