Recovery Image
Veeam Agent for IBM AIX lets you create a recovery image — image of the IBM AIX OS that provides an alternative way to boot your machine. If the OS installed on the machine fails to start for some reason, you can boot the machine from the recovery image. Once you boot your machine, Veeam Agent for IBM AIX starts the Veeam Recovery Environment. You can use the Veeam Recovery Environment to perform bare-metal restore — restore data from a backup created with Veeam Agent for IBM AIX to the original machine or another machine with the same or different hardware.
The recovery image can be helpful if one of the following errors occur:
- The OS on the machine fails to start.
- You want to perform bare-metal restore from the backup on the machine without the OS and other software installed.
- You want to restore the system volume of the machine and so on.
Veeam Agent for IBM AIX creates a recovery image in the ISO format. You can burn the resulting ISO image to a CD or use it as a PXE/NIM bootable image.
You must create a recovery image in advance. It is recommended that you create a recovery image after you configure backup settings and perform backup for the first time. In this case, information about backup locations that you specified will be included in the recovery image.
