Step 8. Finalize Instant VM Recovery

All currently running Instant VM Recovery sessions are displayed in the Backup & Replication view, under the Restore > Instant Recovery node.

To check the progress of an Instant VM Recovery session and view session details:

  1. Open the Backup & Replication view.
  2. In the inventory pane, select Instant Recovery.
  3. In the working area, right-click the session and select Properties. You can also double-click the session in the working area.

After the VM is successfully recovered, you can finalize Instant VM Recovery in two ways:

Migrating Instantly Restored VMs

To migrate the recovered VM to the production environment:

  1. Open the Backup & Replication view.
  2. In the inventory pane, select the Instant Recovery node.
  3. In the working area, right-click the Instant VM Recovery session and select Migrate to production. Veeam Backup & Replication will launch the Quick Migration wizard. During migration, Veeam Backup & Replication will restore the VM from the storage snapshot and then additionally move changes that were made while the VM was running in the Instant Recovery mode.

Unpublishing Instantly Restored VMs

To unpublish the recovered VM:

  1. Open the Backup & Replication view.
  2. In the inventory pane, select the Instant Recovery node.
  3. In the working area, right-click the session and select Stop publishing.

You can also unpublish the VM using the History view:

  1. Open the History view.
  2. In the inventory pane, Instant VM recovery node under Restore.
  3. In the working area, right-click the session and select Stop session.
