Salesforce Backup Copy

With backup copy, you can keep an additional copy of backed-up Salesforce data outside Veeam Data Cloud, for example, to meet data management and compliance requirements. Veeam Data Cloud copies backed-up records to Microsoft Azure Blob Storage containers.

Backup copy is a policy-driven process. A backup copy policy defines what data to copy, where to store it, how often to run and in which format to save the copied files. You can create one or more backup copy policies for each Salesforce tenant. Each policy copies data to one folder in the target storage.

Veeam Data Cloud saves backup copies as CSV files. You can compress the files into ZIP or GZIP archives, split the copied data into multiple files by the number of records or by file size, and protect ZIP archives with a password. If backed-up fields are encrypted, Veeam Data Cloud copies decrypted field values.

Note

This feature is available on request for customers who have a Veeam Data Cloud for Salesforce subscription with more than 200 users. To enable backup copy, contact Veeam Customer Support.

Before You Begin

Before you start backup copy, consider the following:

  • Only users assigned the Salesforce:Administrator or Salesforce:BackupOperator role can manage backup copy policies in Veeam Data Cloud. However, these users can create and run backup copy policies within their permission scope only — that is, for tenants whose data they can access.
  • Before you create a backup copy policy, add a connection to the Microsoft Azure Blob Storage where Veeam Data Cloud will copy the backup data. For details, see Configuring Object Storage Connections.
  • Veeam Data Cloud copies backups only to Microsoft Azure Blob Storage containers. Amazon S3 buckets are not supported.
  • Backup copy policies copy only backed-up records of Salesforce objects. Backed-up files and metadata are not copied.
