Step 2. Enable Syslog Rules (if required)
By default, all syslog hardware message events are enabled. If you do not need to track any syslog messages, you can disable the rules:
- In the OpsMgr console, go to the Authoring pane and select Management Pack Objects > Rules.
- Override the required rules from those listed below:
Rule Name | Syslog Severity |
---|---|
Veeam vSphere Host Syslog: Alert Message | Error |
Veeam vSphere Host Syslog: Critical Message | Error |
Veeam vSphere Host Syslog: Debug Message | Information |
Veeam vSphere Host Syslog: Emergency Message | Error |
Veeam vSphere Host Syslog: Error Message | Error |
Veeam vSphere Host Syslog: Information Message | Information |
Veeam vSphere Host Syslog: Notice Message | Warning |
Veeam vSphere Host Syslog: Syslog daemon service shutdown | Warning |
Veeam vSphere Host Syslog: Warning Message | Warning |
It is recommended that before enabling the above rules you complete Step 3. This will allow you to review the number of syslog events in the Veeam VMware log before the Veeam MP for VMware solution is configured to gather them. You can then review filtering settings and enable the required rules without the risk of overwhelming the Collector, OpsMgr Agent or filling OpsMgr database.
