Defining Global vCenter Attributes
To be able to create custom groups, you should first define global vCenter Veeam.CustomTagN attributes on the vCenter Server side. You can define the Veeam.CustomTagN attributes for different infrastructure objects, such as VMs, hosts, clusters, datastores, datastore clusters, virtual switches, resource pools and vApps.
You can add Veeam.CustomTagN attributes in different ways:
- You can create custom attributes manually, using vSphere Client. For more information, see the VMware Online Documentation.
- Also custom attributes can be created automatically by other 3rd-party applications.
Veeam MP for VMware captures Veeam.CustomTagN attributes and maps them to reserved object properties in OpsMgr. The following table provides a list of reserved object properties for different infrastructure objects:
Object | Custom Attributes / Reserved Properties |
---|---|
VMware Cluster | Veeam.CustomTag3 |
VMware Datastore | Veeam.CustomTag1 Veeam.CustomTag2 Veeam.CustomTag3 |
VMware Datastore Cluster | Veeam.CustomTag3 |
VMware Distributed Virtual Switch | Veeam.CustomTag3 |
VMware Resource Pool | Veeam.CustomTag3 |
VMware Virtual Application | Veeam.CustomTag3 |
VMware Virtual Machine | Veeam.CustomTag1 Veeam.CustomTag2 Veeam.CustomTag3 |
VMware Virtual Machine (Template) | Veeam.CustomTag1 Veeam.CustomTag2 Veeam.CustomTag3 |
VMware vSphere Host | Veeam.CustomTag1 Veeam.CustomTag2 Veeam.CustomTag3 |
