Intelligent ResOps for Microsoft 365
Veeam Data Cloud for Microsoft 365 provides backup and recovery for your workloads. Intelligent ResOps extends this protection with data security and AI governance capabilities, that helps you understand what your protected data contains, who can access it and how it is being used.
Veeam Data Cloud delivers Intelligent ResOps as an add-on. In context of Microsoft 365, Intelligent ResOps gives IT and security teams visibility into what data exists across their Microsoft 365 production environment, who and what has access to it and where risk is concentrated, including risk introduced by AI agents and Microsoft Copilot.
AI Governance and Ungoverned Data
As organizations adopt AI productivity tools, ungoverned production data becomes a liability. Copilot and AI agents inherit the permissions of the users and service accounts they operate under, which means overly permissive data can be surfaced, summarized or acted on in ways that were never intended.
Intelligent ResOps addresses this by inventorying Microsoft 365 assets across Microsoft Exchange Online,Microsoft OneDrive and Microsoft SharePoint Online and Microsoft Teams, mapping both human and non-human identities with access, collecting activity telemetry and surfacing risk signals that would otherwise require manual investigation across disconnected tools.
Data Lifecycle Management and ROT Data
A core focus of Intelligent ResOps is Data Lifecycle Management through the identification of ROT data, content that is Redundant, Obsolete, or Trivial, which accumulates over time in Microsoft 365 environments and represents both a security exposure and an unnecessary cost.
Intelligent ResOps surfaces ROT signals such as last accessed dates, duplicate content and stale files, which gives administrators the evidence they need to make informed cleanup decisions.
Getting Started with Intelligent ResOps
Intelligent ResOps extends Veeam Data Cloud to deliver a unified data security experience for Microsoft 365. From the Veeam Data Cloud portal, administrators can launch directly into DataAI Command Platform to access Intelligent ResOps capabilities that include data inventory, access intelligence, data security and governance policies, sensitive data classification and Undo AI.
Together, these surfaces provide a risk-prioritized, actionable view of Microsoft 365 data security that scales to enterprise tenants.
To access Intelligent ResOps capabilities for Microsoft 365, you must complete the following steps:
- Connect the Veeam Data Cloud for Microsoft 365 tenant to DataAI Command Platform.
- Configure the Microsoft 365 connector. In DataAI Command Platform, do the following:
- Create the Microsoft 365 conector instance.
- Select the Microsoft 365 services (OneDrive, SharePoint Online, Exchange Online, Teams) you want to include for scanning and configure the features for the services.
- Authenticate automatically (recommended) or manually. You must use a Microsoft 365 Global Admin account.
- Verify the connection and activate the service.
- Run the first inventory sync to build the file inventory and entitlements for all services. This may take a while, depending on the size of the tenant.
For more information, see this article in the DataAI Command Platform help center.
- Fetch restore points. In DataAI Command Platform, do the following:
- Configure the Veeam Data Cloud connector.
- Test the connection to Veeam Data Cloud.
- Sync the data from the Veeam Data Cloud tenant to fetch all restore points and backup objects. After the initial sync, the connector automatically synchronizes data every 24 hours.
For more information, see this article in the DataAI Command Platform help center.
Once you complete the steps, Intelligent ResOps ingests your Microsoft 365 data into the Data Command Graph. This creates a unified view of your organization's files, users, permissions, AI agents, applications, activities and classifications.
You can explore your data in Graph Explorer, Inventory, and Dashboards. You can then act on what you find, such as applying a label or quarantining a file. You can also monitor how AI agents and users interact with this data over time. For more information, see this article in the DataAI Command Platform help center.
