Veeam Data Cloud provides backup and recovery for your workloads. Intelligent ResOps extends this protection with data security and AI governance capabilities, helping you understand what your protected data contains, who can access it and how it is being used.
Veeam Data Cloud delivers Intelligent ResOps as an add-on to Veeam Data Cloud for Microsoft 365 workloads.
In context of Microsoft 365, Intelligent ResOps gives IT and security teams visibility into what data exists across their Microsoft 365 production environment, who and what has access to it and where risk is concentrated, including risk introduced by AI agents and Microsoft Copilot.
Why Data Intelligence Is Required Alongside Backup
Three factors are increasing the requirements for precision in data protection:
- Disasters and regional incidents. Infrastructure-level events have taken entire cloud provider regions offline in some cases. Organizations need to know which specific data must be protected, in which locations and in what form, not just that a backup policy is running.
- Ransomware and AI-driven attacks. Automated tools can identify and exploit vulnerabilities faster than manual security processes can detect them. This increases the frequency and speed of ransomware incidents, which means recovery precision matters more than it did before.
- AI agent activity. AI tools connected to your environment through standard logins, including Microsoft Copilot, code assistants and other applications, can read, modify and delete files. When this happens, you need to identify exactly which files were affected and recover only those, without a full environment restore.
Addressing these factors requires knowing precisely what data you have, what is sensitive, what AI agents can access and what needs to be in backup, so that when recovery is needed, it can be targeted rather than broad.
