Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365

Deployment

You can download Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 installation package from the official Veeam website. The installation package contains two MSI files: Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 and Veeam Explorer for Microsoft Exchange that can be installed in either of the following ways:

  1. Installing two components on the same machine.
  2. Installing two components on different machines. When using this scenario, consider that you will need to use an application launcher to start the component on the remote machine. See Starting Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365.

If you want to use Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 in a hybrid Exchange deployment or in the on-premises Exchange organization, and plan to use SPN and Kerberos authentication, then it is recommended that you install Veeam Backup for Office 365 management server in the domain where an Exchange server is deployed. Also, you need to provide the access to the domain controller.

Important!

  1. If you have participated in the public beta testing program for Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365, be sure to uninstall the pre-release versions of Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 and Veeam Explorer for Microsoft Exchange, and delete the content of the archive repository folder, also you should delete the C:\ProgramData\Veeam\Backup365 folder before running the setup.
  2. If you have Veeam Backup & Replication deployed in your environment, consider that to use Veeam Explorer for Microsoft Exchange for restore of Veeam Backup for Microsoft Office 365 v1.5 backups you will need Veeam Backup & Replication 9.5 Update 3 or later. Backward compatibility is not supported.
