Creating Snapshots Manually

You can create cloud-native snapshots of EC2 instances manually when needed. When you create a snapshot manually, Veeam Backup for AWS detects if there is a snapshot chain for the processed EC2 instance. If the snapshot chain exists, Veeam Backup for AWS continues the existing chain. Otherwise, the created snapshot starts a new snapshot chain for the processed EC2 instance.

To create snapshots of EC2 instances manually, complete the following steps:

  1. In the configuration menu on the left, click Instances.
  2. Select check boxes next to the necessary EC2 instances from the list.

You can use the search field to find the EC2 instance by name.

  1. At the top of the list, click Take Snapshot Now.

Creating Snapshots Manually

Veeam Backup for AWS will open the Take Snapshot window.

  1. In the Take Snapshot window, select an IAM role that has permissions on the EC2 instances for which you want to create snapshots.
