Revoking License Units

Veeam Backup for AWS automatically removes a license unit from a protected EC2 instance if no new restore point has been created for it within 31 days. However, you can revoke license units from protected EC2 instances manually. Revoking license units can be helpful, for example, if you removed some EC2 instances from a backup policy and do not want to protect them anymore. Note that you can still perform data recovery operations with backups of EC2 instances from which license units were revoked.

To revoke a license unit from a protected EC2 instance:

  1. At the top right corner of the Veeam Backup for AWS window, click Configuration.
  2. In the configuration menu on the left, click Licensing.
  3. On the License Usage tab, select the necessary EC2 instance from the list, and then click Revoke License. Veeam Backup for AWS will revoke a license unit from the selected EC2 instance, and the license unit will be freed for other EC2 instances that you plan to protect.
