Creating vSphere Backup Jobs

A VMware vSphere backup job defines a list of VMs to back up, a repository in which to store backups, guest OS processing settings and a schedule according to which new backups must be created.

Before you create a backup job, check prerequisites described in Before You Begin.

Note:

  • Creating VMware vSphere jobs is available for Veeam Backup & Replication version 12.1 or later.
  • Make sure you have enabled Veeam Backup & Replication REST API access.

Required Privileges

To perform this task, a user must have one of the following roles assigned: Portal Administrator, Site Administrator, Portal Operator.

Only Portal Administrator can create and edit jobs on client Veeam Backup & Replication servers.

Creating vSphere Backup Jobs

To create a backup job, complete the following steps:

  1. Launch the New vSphere Backup Job wizard.
  2. Specify the backup job name and description.
  3. Select objects to back up.
  4. Specify backup repository settings.
  5. Specify guest OS processing options.
  6. Configure backup job schedule.
  7. Review backup job settings.
