Restoring Entire VM

You can restore entire VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, and Nutanix AHV VMs, or computers managed by Veeam Backup & Replication servers as Nutanix AHV VMs directly from Veeam Service Provider Console.

Before You Begin

Before you restore an entire VM, check the prerequisites specified in the following sections of the Veeam Backup & Replication User Guide:

Note:

  • Restoring entire VMs is available for Veeam Backup & Replication version 13.1 or later.
  • Make sure you have enabled the following options:
  • Veeam Backup & Replication REST API access
  • Redirecting to the Veeam Backup & Replication web UI wizards from Veeam Service Provider Console

Required Privileges

To perform this task, a user must have the following role assigned: Portal Administrator.

Restoring Entire VM

To restore an entire VM:

  1. Log in to Veeam Service Provider Console.

For details, see Accessing Veeam Service Provider Console.

  1. In the menu on the left, click Protected Data.
  2. Open the Virtual Machines tab and navigate to Virtual Infrastructure.
  3. Click a link in the Backups column.

Veeam Service Provider Console will open the Backups window.

  1. Select the necessary backup job in the list.
  2. At the top of the list, click Restore Entire VM.

Alternatively, you can right-click the necessary backup job and select Restore Entire VM.

  1. Select the necessary platform.

Veeam Service Provider Console will open a restore wizard from the Veeam Backup & Replication web UI. To restore an entire VM, follow the procedure as described in the Veeam Backup & Replication User Guide, starting from the following steps:

You can monitor the restore status in the Veeam Backup & Replication web UI. For details, see section Viewing Logs and Events in the Veeam Backup & Replication User Guide.

Restoring Computers Managed by Veeam Backup & Replication

To restore a computer managed by Veeam Backup & Replication:

  1. Log in to Veeam Service Provider Console.

For details, see Accessing Veeam Service Provider Console.

  1. In the menu on the left, click Protected Data.
  2. Open the Computers tab and navigate to Managed by Backup Server.
  3. Click a link in the Backups column.

Veeam Service Provider Console will open the Backups window.

  1. Select the necessary backup job in the list.
  2. At the top of the list, click Restore Entire VM.

Alternatively, you can right-click the necessary backup job and select Restore Entire VM.

  1. Select the necessary platform.

Veeam Service Provider Console will open a restore wizard from the Veeam Backup & Replication web UI. To perform restore a VM, follow the procedure as described in the Veeam Backup & Replication User Guide, starting from Step 2. Select Restore Point.
