Scan Backup

Scan Backup allows you to perform the following operations:

  • Find the last clean restore point after a recent malware attack.
  • Find the last clean restore point if the date of the malware attack is unknown.
  • Find specific information, for example, sensitive data.

Supported Scenarios

You can run the Scan Backup session for the following backups:

  • Image-level virtual machine backups and backup copies of Microsoft Windows VMs (VMware, Hyper-V, Cloud Director, Nutanix AHV, oVirt KVM, Proxmox VE, HPE Morpheus VM Essentials, Citrix XenServer, XCP-ng, Sangfor aSV, Platform9 and VergeOS).
  • Image-level virtual machine backups and backup copies of Linux VMs.
  • Physical machine backups and backup copies.
  • Image-level backups and backup copies created by Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure.
  • Image-level backups created by Veeam Backup for AWS, Veeam Backup for Microsoft Azure and Veeam Backup for Google Cloud.
  • File share and object storage backups.

The following entities are not supported:

  • Backups stored in the Veeam Cloud Connect repository.
  • Backups stored in the archive tier of the scale-out backup repository.
  • Storage snapshots.
