How Updates Work

Veeam Updater performs the following operations:

  • Once a day Veeam Updater sends a request to repository.veeam.com to get information about last updates and saves the information to the configuration database. This operation is also performed in the following cases:
    • When you change the update configuration. For more information, see Configuring Updates.
    • When you install a new license.
    • When Veeam Backup & Replication components are upgraded.
  • At the scheduled time, Veeam Updater updates itself and installs required updates on backup infrastructure components deployed from Veeam Software Appliance or Veeam Infrastructure Appliance and added as managed servers.

Note

Consider the following:

  • If the license is expired or not valid, update operations will fail.
  • Veeam Updater does not sync update configuration on outdated backup infrastructure components.

Veeam Updater log files are stored in the /var/log/veeam/veeam-updater/ directory.
