Updating Veeam Backup & Replication on Windows

Apart from major version releases of Veeam Backup & Replication (for example, 13.0.1 (build 13.0.1.180)), Veeam Software provides updates (for example, update 13.0.1 P1 (build 13.0.1.1071) and 13.0.1 P2 (build 13.0.1.2067) for v13.0.1). Updates contain bug fixes, performance enhancements and introduce new features.

Starting from VBR 13.1, Windows-based backup servers use Veeam Updater to check for and install updates.

Veeam Updater has its own web interface on the backup server, with Updates, History, and Settings sections. For more information, see Veeam Updater Interface and this Veeam KB article.

Note

Consider the following:

  • When you upgrade to VBR 13.1 or later, the setup wizard displays a warning that automatic product updates will now force installation of the latest security updates. This is expected — see Configuring Updates to review or change which updates install automatically.
  • During the update procedure, Veeam Backup & Replication resets the rules in the Veeam Networking Windows Firewall group to default settings. If you have manually modified these rules, reapply those modifications after the update.
