Installing Updates Automatically

Veeam Updater installs updates according to the maintenance window and compliance deadline set in Configuring Updates. Automatic installation uses the same silent upgrade process and pre-installation checks as manual installation — see Installing Updates Manually. Before installing, Veeam Updater runs a configuration check and reports any compatibility issues. Address any errors before the update can proceed.

Veeam Updater downloads update packages to %ProgramData%\Veeam\Updater\ on the backup server. Make sure sufficient free disk space is available before updates are applied.

Important

A forced installation can start even if jobs are running, and may interrupt them. Schedule a maintenance window that avoids your active job schedule.

Note

If automatic update installation fails, Veeam Updater retries later the same day at increasing intervals (1 minute, 10 minutes, 1 hour, 3 hours, 6 hours, and 12 hours). If these attempts fail, Veeam Updater retries once a day for 6 days, then repeats the cycle.

Applying an update may require restarting the backup server to complete installation.
